S-Ski-Moe's 2016 VA Polar Plunge

Welcome to the page dedicated to the S-Ski-Moe's, a team compiled of 10 guys with a collective total of two constructive thoughts and one common goal; to raise money and awareness for Camp Sunshine.

Camp Sunshine has the distinction of being the only program in the nation whose mission is to address the impact of life-threatening illnesses on every member of the immediate family – the ill child, the parents, and the siblings. The year-round program is free of charge to each family and includes medical and psychosocial support and services, recreational programs, accommodations, and meals. Since its inception, Camp Sunshine has offered comfort, hope, and support to over 43,500 individuals from 48 states and 23 countries.

The families who come to Camp Sunshine have children diagnosed with cancer, hematologic conditions, renal disease, systemic lupus erythematosus, or may have undergone solid organ transplantation. They attend illness-specific sessions of varying lengths where they have the opportunity to solidify and renew their relationships while meeting others facing similar challenges. Bereavement programming is also provided for families who have lost a child to an illness.

This will be the 3rd the S-Ski-Moe’s will be taking part of the Virginia polar plunge. The goal this year is to raise $15,000 as a team. To our surprise, our dive into frigid waters has been met with many generous donations and we have raised over $40,000 the first two years.

The S-Ski-Moe’s name is a name with steep cultural and linguistic origins. Generously adapted from this group’s founder - a Persian, Canadian, American man named Moe–is nothing more than a cheap attempt to appeal to every citizen of Earth through one simple man with a lengthy heritage. It’s also a play on the word “Eskimo” as in, we’re going to be jumping into a lake in the middle of February. We’re asking for both donations and witnesses in case this scenario needs to be discussed with authorities after inevitable disaster occurs.

Please donate whatever you can and we thank you for your attention and care for this fantastic cause.
