Freezin' for a worthy reason!
When my family first attended Camp Sunshine in 1996, we had no idea what an important part of our lives it would continue to be for decades to come. A week at Camp Sunshine is a unique week full of fun, respite, and hope for the entire family of a child facing a life-threatening illness. As a former camp participant, a longtime camp volunteer, and a pediatric oncology nurse practitioner, I know firsthand just how valuable to families the support is that they experience at Camp Sunshine. There aren't many reasons I would willingly subject myself to an icy mid-winter plunge, but this is one!
Since we started the Virginia Polar Dip in 2008, the event has raised roughly $900,000 for Camp Sunshine. Our goal this year is to hit the ONE MILLION DOLLAR mark! All funds raised by this event will allow families from the mid-Atlantic region to enjoy the respite that camp offers at no cost to them. I would be most grateful if you would consider making a donation to help us meet that goal (or better yet, sign up to jump with me!)
