Welcome to Carson's Fundraising Page
I'm excited to take my 3rd plunge, this year in Portland, Maine!
What is Camp Sunshine?
Camp Sunshine is a retreat for children with life threatening illnesses and their families. Designated campers and their siblings get to attend day camp programs while their parents or caregivers attend sessions with doctors, the psychosocial director, and doing the same fun activities their children participate in! Campers get to do anything they would at a typical camp here at Camp Sunshine - rock climbing, swimming, challenge courses, sports, boating, bonfires, and even a camp out for the 9-12 year olds. Families do not pay to attend Camp Sunshine, so the organization is reliant on donations from amazing people like YOU.
Why do I take the plunge?
In 2015, my mom and I nervously rode up to Casco, Maine, for our first experience at Camp Sunshine. I volunteered in the Nursery/Tot Lot, and she was in the infamous "Drink Lady" as a volunteer in Food Service. Little did I know on that car ride up that I would absolutely fall in love with this amazing place. Since 2015, I have volunteered at Camp 11 times and have another session on the calendar for 2020, I have volunteered at Watermelon and Pumpkin Festivals at LL Bean in Freeport, and have fundraised over $1000 to date for Camp between polar plunges and "donating my birthday" to Camp Sunshine. I am hoping to hit a lifetime fundraising total of $2000 by the end of 2020. Please help me do this by donating to my polar plunge!
